My
work translates the history of abstraction into a personal idiom that
includes design, gesture, and shape. The tradition and convention of abstract
paintings are the vehicle by which I re-inscribe my connection to the
world.
It’s a process by trial and error, based on the belief that painting
can be both evocative and straightforward, simultaneously conjuring up
the world beyond its edges, while appearing to tell nothing more than
the story of it’s making.
So it is with my artistic development and connection to abstract painters
of the past. I am shaped and guided by those that came before me ( Motherwell,
Rothko, Diebenkorn, and Pollock among others), giving me a solid foundation.
My relationship with these past icons has allowed me to grow and shape
my own path
